Through the Fisheries Act overview, participants will gain a better understanding of the intent and general content of the Act, and the associated Regulations and compliance and enforcement policy. This course has been developed and delivered by Yves Corriveau (ECCC lawyer).

Course objectives:

• Define the purpose and main objectives of the Fisheries Act
• Describe Environment Canada’s mandate with respect to the Act
• Describe the Fisheries Act and the main regulatory authorities to deposit
• Recognize the compliance promotion role as part of administering the Fisheries Act
