Description
As per the Canada Labour Code Part II and ECCC’s learning policy, this course is mandatory for all levels of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) committee members (work place, regional and national) and representatives, in addition, it is strongly recommended for committee secretaries.
This training must be completed without delay, no longer than 90 days following appointment for new members or representatives and, refresher training is mandatory for committee members and representatives every two (2) years.
This course is designed to make members/representatives aware of their responsibilities under the Code and provide the skills necessary to ensure that they may effectively carry out these responsibilities.
Throughout this course, the learner will understand as a committee member or representative: the legislative and policy context; aware of their roles and responsibilities as well as operations; a review of the rights and duties of employees, employers and committee members or representatives; understand the internal complaint resolution process, psychological health and safety in the work place; and hazard prevention.
